We are Team Madness!
We're a group of four fellas who want nothing more than to make the ultimate sidescrolling shooter game for you, and dammit, we're not gonna lay off the go-juice until we've done it.
Team Madness got its start with a 2D sidescrolling Shoot-em-up called Madness: Project Nexus. The game was created as a loveletter to the Madness series on Newgrounds.com, and meant more as as a simulation of the cartoon than a true game experience.
It was a wonderful place to start, and in 2 years the game accumulated over nine million plays on Newgrounds alone (ignoring the hundreds of pirated copies on other sites). It was enough to raise an important question: Does the world want a better Madness game? Because we felt it certainly deserved it.
In August of 2014, we launched a Kickstarter to fund the creation MADNESS: Project Nexus. It was a terrifying undertaking. Failure was not what we feared, but the possibility that the gaming world did not want to see a Madness game as badly as we did. However, after hitting our funding goal with the help of over a thousand dedicated folks just like you, we realized the fans had spoken.
The game was destined to be made.
Michael "The" Swain
Programmer and team co-founder. Swain has been coding and designing Flash games for six years, and worked with the Unity 3D engine for the last year.
You may have seen his work on Newgrounds.com, including the Blockhead and Mastermind cartoon series, as well as the game Mastermind: World Conqueror. He also co-created Skincraft, one of the leading Minecraft skin creation tools.
Matt "Krinkels" Jolly
Lead artist, 3D modeler, and team co-founder. Matt has over ten years of experience as an artist and Flash animator.
If you know the Madness series, then you know Krinkels. One of the oldest series on Newgrounds (and still the single most consistently popular one to date), Madness is the bloody brainchild of Krinkels and the progenitor and protean series upon which MADNESS: Project Nexus is based.
Devin "Locknar" Martin
Dubstep Wizard and club kingpin. Devin started as a Madness fan, and become a core game contributor through his musical talents.
In 2012, Devin donated music to the original Project Nexus Flash game as a fan of the series. His contribution was such a hit with Madness fans that we've taken him on to help diversify the project. Devin is also the sole sound engineer on the project. Many stalks of celery were destroyed in the making of our gore effects. If you dare to rock out, visit his Website. Sean "Cheshyre" Hodges
Musician and effects artist. Sean has been single-handedly producing the music of the Madness universe since 2003.
Naturally, Cheshyre is coming with the team until the end. His extensive knowledge of electronic music has only gotten fuller in the years since he first joined with Krinkels to flavor the Madness series with his own twisted brand of juicy techno.
